Drug Interactions :

If you are under 18 years of age, there is strong possibility that the use of antidepressant medication might have an increased risk of suicidal thoughts at the initial stage. Consult with your doctor about this effect. While consuming this medication, you will have to be under observation for initial few weeks.

This observation will keep check of any worsening symptoms of depression or suicidal thoughts especially when the dose is changed. Your family and friends should check your mood swings and for other symptoms. Regular checkups are must for about 12 weeks from the start of the treatment.

Do not take Zoloft together with pimozide (Orap), or a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) such as isocarboxazid (Marplan), phenelzine (Nardil), rasagiline (Azilect), selegiline (Eldepryl, Emsam), or tranylcypromine (Parnate). Wait for at least 14 days once you have stopped taking MAOI before you can take Zoloft.

Sertraline can interact with many of the drugs, so consult your doctor accordingly and try to avoid them for your betterment. Inform your doctor if you are allergic to Sertraline or any other medications. And if you are allergic to latex, consult your doctor before taking Sertraline liquid concentrate. Also avoid taking Zoloft medication, if you are already in-taking monoamine oxidase MAO inhibitors, including tranylcypromine Parnate, phenelzine Nardil etc. or have stopped taking them within the past two weeks or if you are taking pimozide Orap.

Inform your doctor of what other prescription and nonprescription medications, vitamins, nutritional supplements and herbal products you are taking during the course. Do not forget to mention, anticoagulants blood thinners such as warfarin Coumadin antidepressants mood elevators such as amitriptyline Elavil, amoxapine Asendin, clomipramine Anafranil, desipramine Norpramin, doxepin Adapin, Sinequan, imipramine Tofranil, nortriptyline Aventyl, Pamelor, protriptyline Vivactil, and trimipramine Surmontil cimetidine Tagamet diazepam Valium digoxin Lanoxin lithium Eskalith, Lithobid medications for irregular heartbeat such as flecainide Tambocor and propafenone medications for anxiety, mental illness, Parkinsons disease, and seizures.

Also avoid taking disulfiram Antabuse while taking Sertraline concentrate. Stay in touch with the doctor during the complete course.
